FAQ’s

How does solar PV work?

Solar panels produce DC power during daylight hours, this power is converted by the inverter to AC power to be used in your home or business. The power generated first flows to your usage and if you are generating more than you are using, the balance will flow to your battery/the grid. Essentially, the installation is designed to minimize grid import and export. Meaning you use more of the power yourself.

How can I get paid for exported power?

Once your system is installed, your handover pack will include the necessary documents to apply for export payments with your energy supplier. We can assist you in this process if required.

Do I need a south facing roof?

South facing is the most productive orientation but even north facing panels will produce power. Our quotations break down the expected generation for each roof space to help guide your decision.

Can the battery provide power in a grid outage?

Yes, some inverters provide basic backup in the form of an emergency socket, so if the grid fails you have access to the battery stored power. Other more sophisticated systems will provide whole home backup with a seamless transition.  Both options will also allow your PV panels to continue to produce power.

Can I have a battery without solar panels?

Yes, with the cheap off-peak electricity tariffs you can charge the battery overnight and effectively run your peak usage at off-peak prices.  Perfect for properties with little available roof space.
